How To Fit Your Office Chair To Your Comfort Level

You spend a lot of time in your office chair every day.
More often than not, more time is spent in this chair than
in your living room easy chair, which you carefully selected
for personal comfort. The same attention toward the comfort
in your daily office chair should also be considered. Some
pointers for finding the appropriate office chair for you
follow.

A few general principles to follow when picking the right
office chair are along these lines:
1.~Proper back support. An angle of 90 to 105 degrees
is best suited to support your back.
2.~Chair height. Your feet should comfortably rest on
the floor.
3.~Lap position. Make sure your thighs are parallel to
the floor for free flowing support.
4.~Tilting. Let your chair have some title but not so
much you could touch the floor backwards.

Back support should be your top priority when selecting an
office chair. A contoured backrest with a natural shape
that conforms to your body's size and structure has the best
support. A handy feature is an adjustable back support for
various heights and sitters throughout the day.

A soft cushion is not the best support for your posture
during the workday. The firmer office cushion can prevent
muscle fatigue while a home's easy chair cushion is designed
for lounging in front of the TV. A flat, sculpted cushion
can support your thighs and buns longer, as well as
improving your circulatory system in your legs during the
workday.

Another important feature of a good office chair is the
ability to easily adjust the chair during the day to match
the changing needs of your body. The controls should be
within a comfortable reach of the seated occupant and the
controls should smoothly adjust the positioning of the
chair. This type of control is especially important for
people who sit at a computer screen for a large part of
the day.

Gliding across the floor or carpet is easier when the office
chair has good flowing casters. While the newer office
chairs sport five casters, the older models have only four.
The office chairs with five legs are much more stable and
safer than the previous chairs with only 4 radial legs.

Office workers who sit most of the day need to learn to
take care of their backs properly. One of the primary
recommendations is to get up from the desk for two minutes
every half hour to stretch. If that is not possible,
remember to change position frequently while maintaining
good posture at your desk. Finally, make sure that your
glasses are the right prescription for you, especially if
you are facing a computer screen. Incorrect glasses will
cause you to tilt your head or otherwise sit in an awkward
way while trying to focus on the computer screen.
